I had to give Texas it's own page because I HOPE this list will be constantly growing.

WLT is "the largest literary arts organization in Texas, a statewide nonprofit offering programs and services to writers at all stages of their writing careers, from just getting started to publication and beyond."

Many great workshops, a huge writing conference and a yearly writing contest!

As Houston’s premier literary arts nonprofit organization, Inprint anually serves more than 15,000 readers and writers of fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction.

Workshops, book clubs, and other support for emerging writers!

They do everything! Bookclubs, book reviews, writer's groups, a list of Texas publishers, a newsletter, you name it! They just published their first LONE STAR LITERARY LIFE magazine and it's beautiful! They've also got a great calendar of all writerly/bookish events in Texas!

Held each fall around the majestic State Capitol in downtown Austin, the annual Festival Weekend features a rich variety of author presentations and panels, book signings, cooking demonstrations, programs and activities for kids of all ages, food trucks, and exhibiting vendors from across the state and country. 

And it's just a lot of fun!

Deep Vellum is a nonprofit publishing house and literary arts organization with the mission to bring the world into conversation through literature. In addition to being an indie publisher, they have a bookstore and are a big part of the literary community. Go say hi!
